If you like cakes with a lighter texture to them, this madeleine from Family Mart is well worth trying. It's quite reasonably priced at only 158 yen including tax, and I think the portion size is just right -- not too big, nor too small. The flavor of the product is really good, too. Some other madeleines I've tried before have had lemony or almond-like flavors, but this is fairly neutral -- sweet, but not overly so, with a slight saltiness (in a good way) from the butter. A little crispiness to the outer of the madeleine also adds a nice textural element to the product.

If you prefer your madeleines with more of those lemony or almondy flavor undertones, you might find this one a little too neutral for your liking. Aside from that point to note, I felt this was a really tasty light dessert. The price is reasonable, too, which makes it a fairly budget friendly sweet treat that has a "just right" portion size. I'm not sure how long this is set to be on Family Mart's shelves for, so if it sounds good to you I'd recommend looking for it sooner rather than later. Happy eating!
