The First Beer Hall in Tokyo

Touted as the oldest beer hall established in Tokyo, this pub is a refreshing take on a drinking establishment. There are a few beers available, although they obviously specialize in the Japanese variety. The local beers come in three sizes: medium, large, and boot. The boot is an interesting experience and is something that I think is best to try only once. The food is great here too. I haven’t had a decent pretzel in years and the ones they make here are delicious. Other items are of top quality as well. There was even a butter with dried fruit that I had mistaken for cheese because of its flavour. They also take the “hall” part of “beer hall” seriously. Having survived World War II, the architecture is old, meaning the layout is also ancient. That means all of the available tables are in one gigantic room. The ceiling and walls have a rustic design and lighting takes you back nearly a hundred years. Everything about this place was a good time, though that means spending a bit more than most places if you want your stomach satisfied.
